Dielectric Sealable
WT Burnett offers specific grades of polyurethane foam that can be effectively sealed using dielectric heating, also known as radio frequency (RF) welding or high-frequency welding. This process uses electromagnetic energy to fuse the foam material together and create a strong, hermetic seal.
Mechanism of Action
Dielectric sealing applies a high-frequency electromagnetic field to the foam material. The energy causes the polar molecules inside the foam to vibrate rapidly, generating heat that melts and fuses it together under pressure.
Key Benefits
-
Strong & Airtight Seals
Creates durable and hermetic seals that are resistant to leaks and environmental factors.
-
Clean & Efficient Process
Eliminates the need for adhesives or other joining methods, resulting in cleaner and more efficient manufacturing.
-
Medical Device Applications
Can be used to create sealed pouches and components for medical devices.
-
Packaging Solutions
Suitable for creating sealed packaging for sensitive products.

Considerations
Whether a particular foam grade is right for dielectric sealing depends on the chemical composition and dielectric properties. Contact us to learn more about compatible foam types and optimal sealing parameters.
